OBJECTIVE
Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at DIAS is a three years full time program designed to equip the students with management skills, proficiency in areas relating to commerce and industry. This programme aims to prepare the student to select their professional career from various current avenues. It is a career-oriented degree programme which provides a foundation in all aspects of commerce and business trade. It helps to prepare graduates for a wide range of careers in the business world. Our aim for the B.Com(H) programme is to provide the student with the knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to the courses offered, together with a capacity for critical and evaluative thinking. To achieve this, we aim to offer a stimulating, challenging as well as a supportive learning environment for our students to encourage autonomous learning and independent thinking.

- The program is designed to build competency in various areas of the industry like in the field of finance and accounting, business development, banking, management consulting, financial planning, government administration, and portfolio management in various sectors.
On the successful completion of the program requirements, a student is awarded Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
PEDAGOGY
Teaching methods for MBA at DIAS include- lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, role plays, simulation exercises, extensive on the job industrial training, real life projects and field visits. The emphasis is on involving the students in the learning and helping them to relate concepts and theories to business requirements. Consistent with advances in teaching technology, the program integrates the use of computers in learning of the basic principles in different functional areas of management. It also enables students to acquire skills in identifying and dealing with complex problems in management, especially in the era of globalization of industrial and commercial activities and the tremendous competition that ensues.
Apart from this general pedagogy, advanced and slow learners are identified based on their graduation marks and further on results of the first year end term examination. Special measure like remedial classes in select subjects, assignments and personal counseling is extended to slow learners. Advanced learners are encouraged to participate in business plan, write research papers and present them in National and International Conferences & Seminars.

Bachelor of Commerce Programme offered by the Institute will enable the students to:
- Gain a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of Commerce and Finance.
- Develop specialized skill-sets in various areas of finance with a view to help them make careers in accounting.
- Acquire practical skills to work as financial analyst, tax consultant, audit assistant and other financial supporting services and ensure that students are trained and well equipped with the latest developments.
- Develop legal, social, environmental and ethical responsibilities as conscious citizens and business executives for future.
- Gain behavioral as well as managerial nuances for their holistic development.
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME
- Business Acumen: Practical knowledge of accounting principles, economic policies and business laws builds students’ business acumen in specific areas of business. The course’s ambit includes an advanced study of economics, business studies, accounts and their management, accounting of expenditure, management of resources, study of business relations, and management of trade flow, among others.
- Professional Competence: This course puts a strong emphasis on developing analytical skills and offers a solid grounding and professional competence in all aspects of accounting. Also, it prepares students for a professional qualification in taxation, finance and accounting and provides a solid base in the field of Taxation, Accounting and Finance, thus making it easier to acquire a leadership / managerial role in the financial sector.
- Technical and Operational Efficiency: Deep understanding about the fundamentals of management elements of company law, corporate accounting, basic knowledge on cost accounting, banking and financial system, train students to handle various financial activities associated with Banking and other financial sectors and operate efficiently in the financial service sector along with handling various technologies employed in the field of Banking and other financial areas.
- Research Orientation: The curriculum involves intensive study, culminating with the completion of a research-based project. One of the principle objectives of the course is to prepare students for successfully operating in and contributing to the modern world of business, as also for pursuing advanced research in the discipline. The course’s curriculum integrates theoretical and practical components of study.
- Holistic Development: Program provides exposure to students in the latest trends in relevant branches of knowledge, competence and creativity to face global challenges. Subjects like Business Communication and Managerial Personality Development grooms the personality of the students. This course also equips students with advanced learning in IT and online business practices of organizations and procedures involved in managing a business online. With internet becoming a household name, E-Commerce transactions are also fast gaining popularity. Business transactions that take place over the internet are referred to as E-Commerce.
- Socially Responsible Citizens: Knowledge of Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility inculcates a sense of civic responsibility, social commitment, and moral accountability among the students through social activities with exposure to human rights, value system, culture, heritage, scientific temper and environment.
